PISICA CU CLOPOŢEI

Această poveste a fost folosită, printre alţii, de către Marie Finlay şi Christine Hogan de la Universitatea Tehnică Curtin din Australia, în cadrul cursurilor de Resurse Umane. Eu am apelat la această relatare în cadrul instruirilor privind încurajarea procesului cognitiv practic si creativ, respectiv pentru a ilustra iminenţa pericolului îndepărtării de “calea cea bună”.

A fost odată ca niciodată, o numeroasă familie de şoareci, care îşi ducea veacul la ţară, într-o imensă casă străbună. Vreme îndelungată s-au bucurat de o viaţă îndestulată, cu suficientă hrană şi sobele bubuind în bucătărie.

Asta, până când, într-o bună zi, s-a revărsat asupra lor catastrofa: proprietarii casei, în mod evident îngrijoraţi de daunele pe care şoarecii le-au cauzat, au achiziţionat o mâţă.

Pisica, nerăbdătoare să-și dovedească valoarea, a vânat şoarecii prin toată casa, din pod până în pivniță, și, spre groaza ronţăitoarelor, chiar capturând şi devorând un număr considerabil din membrii “familiei” lor.

Una dintre rozătoare a convocat de urgenţă celula de criză, pentru a discuta rezolvarea situaţiei. Fiind nişte fiinţe foarte creative, şoarecii au abordat o sumedenie de tactici pentru a scăpa de criminala felină, inclusiv posibilitatea “otrăvirii ei”, a “împuşcării ei”, a “înfricoșării ei de moarte”…

În cele din urmă, unul dintre şoricei a pus punctul pe “i”: “De ce nu agăţăm un clopoţel de gâtul pisicii, astfel încât, oriunde s-ar afla, am auzi-o şi am avea timp suficient să fugim şi să ne ascundem?”.

Confraţii săi au considerat idea excelentă şi, lovindu-l tandru pe spate, l-au felicitat pentru creativitatea sa. În vacarmul acestei euforii, un şoricel minuscul, care a zăcut până atunci tăcut, pitit departe într-un colţ, a ridicat timid una dintre lăbuţe, chiţăind aproape în şoaptă: “Îmi permiteţi să vă adresez o întrebare?”

“Desigur”, a răspuns căpetenia rozătoarelor, “Dă-i drumul.”

“Ei bine, sunt convins că este o idee genială şi nu doresc să va stric petrecerea”, a înghiţit el în sec, “dar cine va agăţa clopoţelul de gâtul pisicii?”

 MORALA

Ideile creative sunt minunate – atât timp cât cineva s-a gândit şi la punerea lor în practică! 

 REFLECŢII

Putem apela la această poveste atunci când abordăm subiecte precum stabilirea şi realizarea unor obiective realiste, gândirea creativă şi realistă sau/şi rezolvarea practică a problemelor.

În ce măsură te identifici pe tine – sau pe cei din jurul tău – în rolul şoricelului din poveste?

Ce anume reprezintă pentru tine “pisica cu care ai de-a face”?

În ce manieră promovezi ideile creative?

Sunt aceste idei realiste şi practice? Ce anume te asigură că ele sunt realiste?

Care sunt pericolele inerente unei idei creative?

Există şi alte abordări (mai sigure) de negociere cu “pisica”?

Belling the Cat

This retold tale has been used, amongst others, by Marie Finlay and Christine Hogan from the Curtin University of Technology in Australia, who tell it to their human resource development students. I have used it with coachees to encourage a creative and practical thought process and to illustrate the danger of getting carried away with ‘good ideas’.

Once upon a time, in a big old house in the country, lived a huge family of mice. For many years they had enjoyed a good life, and had the run of the kitchen and all the food they could eat.

Then, one day, disaster struck. The owners of the house, obviously concerned with the damage that the mice were causing, bought a cat.

The cat, anxious to prove his worth, chased the mice all over the house, up in the attic, down in the cellars, and to their horror, caught and ate quite a few of ‘the family’.

One of the mice called a crisis meeting to discuss how they should deal with the situation. Being very creative mice as they were, they brainstormed lots of ideas to bring about the demise of the cat, including ‘poison it’, ‘shoot it’, ‘frighten it to death’ and so on.

Eventually, one of the mice in the group piped up.

‘Why don’t we put a bell on the cat, so that anywhere it goes, we can hear it ringing, and this will give us time to run away and hide?’

His friends all thought this was an excellent idea, and were patting him on the back and congratulating him on his creativity. Amidst all the jubilation, a very small mouse in the corner, who had been quiet up until now, stood up and raised a paw.

‘Could I ask a question?’ he squeaked timidly.

‘Of course,’ answered the leader of the mice. ‘Fire away.’

‘Well, I’m sure it’s a good idea and everything, and I don’t want to sound like a killjoy, but…’ he gulped, ‘who will bell the cat?’

 MORAL

Creative ideas are great – so long as someone has thought them through!

This story can be used to discuss such issues as setting and achieving realistic goals, creative and realistic thinking and practical problem solving.
